Segmental Massage – a back massage that affects the whole body
Segmental Massage is a medical massage type that focuses on the back and, through it, on nerve segments that affect the entire body
Segmental Massage is based on the body’s segmental structure — each area of the back is connected through the spinal cord to a specific internal organ, muscle, or joint. By working on the back, the therapist can affect areas that aren’t directly touched: the arms, legs, digestive organs, and circulation.
The massage is done using a specific technique along nerve lines on the back — with little oil, to preserve skin sensitivity and precision of technique. It’s often used for back pain, digestive issues, circulation problems, and nervous system imbalance.
Segmental Massage is an excellent fit if you have:
- Pain in the back and neck
- Lower back and sacral pain
- Degenerative changes in the spine
- Neuralgia, neuritis, sciatica
- Damage to joint ligaments and joint capsules
- Arthritis, osteoarthritis
- Chronic and functional diseases of internal organs
- Chronic rheumatic diseases of the spine and joints
- Disorders of the endocrine and autonomic nervous system
- Circulation disorders
